Thank You Round and Round

Thank You Round and Round
This card is specially made for my manager to thank him on his recommendation for my salary increment recently. I am really grateful for his kind recommendation.

Close-up : Lot of circles
I starts off stamping the big dotted circle randomly on the white card stock using a light green ink. The small dotted circle is then stamped inside the big dotted circle using a darker green ink. Another circle design stamp is stamped using red ink in between the spaces of the big dotted circles. Four (4) of the corners are rounded accordingly. Later, I distressed the edges to give some vintage look.

A purple strip is trimmed and two (2) of the corners are rounded accordingly before adding some faux stitching using black marker. I distressed the edges as well. The stamped background and the purple strip are attached onto a green card base as in the sketch which earlier has been distressed.

Close-up : Sentiment and buttons
The sentiment is stamped on a yellow circle which later some faux stitching are added using black marker. Again, I distressed the edges as well. The circle is later attach onto the card base using dimensional foam. On top and bottom of the circle, two (2) blue buttons with tied string are attached which complete design of the sketch.

Close-up : Green and red gems
I added some green gems to the center of the big dotted circle and some red gems to the small circle to finish off the card. I think I either over distress this card or used wrong distress ink as the result is not turned out so well as I imagined.

Dimension : 10.16cm x 15.24cm or 4" x 6"

Simple Invitation

Simple Invitation
I decided to make an invitation card today as I got my inspiration from Lawnscaping Challenge #38 - Inspiration Photo as shown below. The inspiration photo have some balloon, cake and decoration which gives a party feel. Furthermore, it has given me an opportunity to use a stamp set that I purchased quite sometimes ago. It has not been inked yet and I felt guilt not inky it. :P
Lawnscaping Challenge #38 - Inspiration Photo

Tuesday Morning Sketches #155
I adopt the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches #155 sketch/challenge as shown above due to its simplicity. The inspiration photo and sketch above plus the stamp set has given me an inspiration of a simple invitation card.

I use the dash line stamp to stamp the lines which are sketched earlier using pencil. After stamped the lines, the sketched lines are erased using eraser. I further stamp the 'when' and 'where' accordingly. Then, it is attached onto a yellow card stock which one of the edge has been punched with some design.

The yellow card stock is attached onto a green card stock which is the base of the invitation card. The sentiment, 'It's a party!' is stamped on a yellow card stock and trimmed accordingly. It is attached onto a blue scallop circle. The scallop circle is then attached onto the invitation card base as in the sketch.

It is that simple and easy to re-make.

Dimension : 7.62cm x 13.97cm or 3" x 5.5"
Type : None - One facing

I Won Again!

I won again! This is my second time that I won a challenge! The challenge I won this time is Tuesday Morning Sketches #154 with Twist 'Things with Wings'! I did not expect that I will won as I submitted my entry quite late.

My winning card,  Bee and Flower
My winning card is my "Bee and Flower" card that I made for Kim Loh who purchases Copic markers from me earlier. The stamp set I used on this card is my first time using them since I bought them few months ago. I did not expect that it would bring me luck!

But I do have a very strong feeling that I may win as I got a lot of Tuesday Morning Sketches design team members comments. Thus, I decided to check the result just now since I check yesterday, it is not yet announced. I was a bit shock when I saw my nickname which has been enlarged the font in the announcement post! I really do not expect it at all!

Furthermore, this time contest is a judged challenge or contest which the Tuesday Morning Sketches design team will judge whose card is the best to receive the price. It is not random selection like last time I won! This time is really evaluated by a team of design team! I am really proud as in some way, my card making skills has been improved that I won this challenge!

After confirming that I really won, I wrote to Tuesday Morning Sketches as instructed in the announcement post in order to claim my prize. Thanks again to Tuesday Morning Sketches and Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps for the prize!

Patchwork Paper Congratulations!

Patchwork Paper Congratulations!
I got to know recently that one of my colleagues that I used to work with has been promoted. We used to work together for some times but as I changed role, we no longer work together. Anyhow, I am happy for her that she finally get promoted.

Card Positioning Systems (CPS) - CPS 274
This card layout is inspirational from Card Positioning Systems (CPS) - CPS 274 sketch/challenge as shown above. Some of the challenges are having theme of stitching and sentiment only on the card which I have not done before. Thus, I like to try them on this card.

Close-up : Patchwork paper and faux stitching
Since only sentiment can be on the card front, I try Chari Moss' patchwork paper technique so that the card would be nicer. It is quite easy to do the patchwork paper technique once you grab its secret and I am kind a hooked to it. :) Once the patchwork paper is done, the four (4) corners are rounded. It is attached onto a red card stock which the corners has been rounded as well.

Close-up : Punched embossed red strip
and
button with tied natural string
On a green card base, a punched embossed red strip is attached on the left of the card as in layout. Then, the patchwork paper is attached on the card base as in layout.

Close-up : Sentiments as the card focal point with faux stiching
The sentiments are stamped on a green card stock. The four (4) corners are rounded to match the patchwork paper earlier. Using a white gel pen, I added the faux stitching border around the sentiments. The sentiments are then attached onto the patchwork paper using dimensional foam. I further adds faux stitching borders to the patchwork paper as well on the card base. I thought I over do it a little but it seem the outcome is just nice.

A button with tied natural string is added to the centre of the card in between the punched embossed red strip and patchwork paper. One glance at it, it looks like a tag!

Dimension : 10.16cm x 15.24cm or 4" x 6"
Type : Vertical fold
Inlay : None

Doctor Graduation!

Doctor Graduation
Made this card for my daughter's godmother who is also my childhood best friend. I suppose to make this card earlier when I got my stamp but it seems that the previous two (2) weekend had me busy for something else. My best friend is graduating as Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) last week but I really do not have time to make the graduation card. With guilt on my mind, I finally made this graduation card! Hopefully she will like it and cheer her up.

MFT Wednesday Stamp Club Challenge #80
This card layout is inspirational from MFT Wednesday Stamp Club Challenge #80 sketch/challenge as shown above.

Close-up : Doctor and graduation hat

The doctor image is stamped on the white card stock and colored using Copic. The stethoscope is colored with glitter pen to give some bling to it. The four corners are rounded and the edges are distressed.
Close-up : Bling  stethoscope

Close-up : Punched strip
The card base is blue which I topped a yellow card stock onto it. At the bottom of the yellow card stock, a strip of red embossed card stock is attached onto it. Then, it is follow by the blue punched strip on top of the red embossed card stock. A pattern paper is attached on the yellow card stock as in layout. The doctor image is attached onto the pattern paper.

Close-up : Sentiment
The sentiment is stamped on a light blue card stock and rounded the corner on the upper left and bottom right. It is then attached onto the pattern paper as in layout. The graduation hat (or mortarboard) is attached onto the head of the doctor. Some dimensional foam is used for the graduation hat tassel to give some feeling that it is loose.

Close-up : The embellishments
Two (2) pink punched hearts are attached on the left of the doctor as shown in the layout. Then, some pearl hearts are attached onto the punched hearts and the medical record on that the doctor is holding.

Dimension : 10.16cm x 15.24cm or 4" x 6"
Type : Horizontal fold

Bee and Flower

Bee and Flower Card
Made this card for Kim Loh, another art person who uses Copic markers in her arts.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #154
This card layout is inspirational from Tuesday Morning Sketches #154 sketch/challenge as shown above. They added a twist to this sketch as it is a judged challenge. The twist is 'Things with Wings'.

Close-up : Bee and flower
Two (2) flower images are stamped on the white card stock and colored using Copic. One of them is carefully trimmed for the petals and leaves. Then, the bee is stamped at the top of the flower. The edge of the white card stock is distressed before attaching on the a yellow card stock.

Close-up : Layer of petals and leaves
Carefully using dimensional foam, the petals and leaves are attached onto the flower accordingly. Some pearls are added to the centre of the flower to give some dimension. Two (2) yellow gems are added to the bee's antennas. The panel is then attached onto the card base that which has been dimensional attached with pattern paper.

Close-up : Sakura and string loop
At the bottom of the card, as shown in the layout, two (2) punched sakura are secured with eyelets on the most left and right of the flower panel. The pink string is looped and secured accordingly behind the sakura.

Another Three (3) Copic Ciao to My Collection

From top to bottom :
B00 Frost Blue
E50 Egg Shell
R22 Light Prawn
I am adding another three (3) Copic Ciao to my Copic markers collection. This time I decided to have B00 Frost Blue, E50 Egg Shell and R22 Light Prawn.

I decided to have B00 Frost Blue because in some of the tutorial I watch, they added this light blue to bring up the image from a white card stock which sometimes I just needed.

While E50 Egg Shell, I decided to have this because the brown hues category I have now is not light enough to resemble human skin tone. Sometimes I feel like the skin tone I colored is too dark especially when I adding two color tones together. Hope this E50 Egg Shell will be suitable.

Well, my red hues collection is too little and adding R22 Light Prawn would be another selection of red hues to use.

Note :
Pre-order for Copic markers are now open. Please refer here on how to order! Thanks!
